Arsene Wenger has confirmed that star trio Mesut Ozil, Bacary Sagna and Santi Cazorla are all fit to face Norwich at the Emirates this Saturday after passing fitness tests on Friday morning.
The Gunners boss gave his usual pre-match press conference before linking up with his side for their last training session prior to Saturday’s afternoon kick off.
The Frenchman has had a chance to assess the fitness of his players who have either returned from international duty injured (Ozil) or have been fighting for fitness after recent injury woes (Sagna and Cazorla).
He declared the trio are fit, however whether they start or not is an entirely different matter after the Arsenal manager expressed his cautiousness for overplaying some of his star names (see predicted lineup news here).
He said in his pre-match press conference:
Ozil, Sagna and Cazorla are all fit. Everybody else looks fit and ready.
Wenger is expecting his side to focus after the international break and is not taking Norwich lightly. He added:
We want to switch on and play in an efficient way. Every single game is a potential danger for every team in the league.
The news of Ozil, Sagna and Cazorla’s fitness is certainly encouraging, Hopefully the trio are able to start and we can expect to see my optimistic starting lineup come to fruition. The Spaniard is much needed on the wing, the creativity and precision he adds to the attack has been missed especially with barely any recognized, fit wingers available recently. Ozil may potentially face some rotation with Rosicky more than capable of operating ‘in the hole’ after the German played most of his countries two matches over the past week, but it may be a case of him starting and coming off if things go well for the Gunners.
