Out-of-favour striker Marouane Chamakh has been given an opportunity to salvage his footballing career with Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud confirming there is a serious chance the Moroccan will return to his former club.
Rumours of a return to Bordeaux have been on and off for the Moroccan, although a departure has never eventuated with a drop in wages a necessity for the move and Chamakh previously stating he wants to fight for his place in the first-team.
Although looking at the situation presently, it is clear that Chamakh has fallen heavily out of favour with Wenger with the Frenchman preferring to use Gervinho to spearhead the attack with Giroud facing difficulties in adapting to the Premier League
Triaud is quoted as saying by Goal.com:
Chamakh could return. There is a serious chance. It is feasible for us and him but the choice is down to Arsenal. If he’s not happy then we are in a position to talk about it.
In December 2011, I sent a message to say the door was open for a return but Chamakh wanted to stay. Now the message is there again with the same objective.

Money is the key question because salaries in the Premier League are enormous, but it’s also necessary for him to play.
Although the striking position has become more easily attainable for would-be contenders after the departure of Robin van Persie, Chamakh has still found it very difficult to find any first-team opportunities, even with Giroud struggling to adapt in the early stages of his Arsenal career.
At 28, the Moroccan international would surely want to experience some match-time as he begins to enter the twilight stage of his career and although he would get a pay-cut as a result of the move, in circumstances such as these you feel football should be chosen over money.
What do you guys think? Does he still have a shot at Arsenal? Should he take the pay-cut in order to attain some regular match-time? Feel free to leave a comment below or discuss Chamakh in the allArsenal.com forums!
