Joel Campbell is looking to make the most of his run in the team, and stated his case with a goal against Sunderland this Saturday afternoon.
We were probing and pressing for quite some time, and just past the half hour mark we broke the deadlock. Campbell timed his run perfectly, knowing well that Mesut Özil would be able to pick him out if he did so.
The German playmaker didn’t disappoint, and slid the ball between the defence to put the Costa Rican winger through on goal.
Campbell slotted it past Costel Pantillimon and into the back of the net, 1-0 Arsenal.

Campbell is benefiting from a host of injuries to the Arsenal regulars, and has been getting an extended run in the team. He hasn’t always been hugely impressive, but if he can keep scoring he should keep his place.
It will be hard for him to keep his starting spot when the likes of Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez return, so he needs to make the most of it and give Arsene Wenger a decision to make.
Unfortunately, we didn’t hold onto our lead, and Sunderland equalised right before the half time whistle. Laurent Koscielny gave away a needless free kick on Duncan Watmore, and the Black Cats were given the chance to swing one in. Ola Toivonen was completely unmarked at the near post, and swung a foot at the ball (missing it completely). It put Olivier Giroud off though, who attemtped to clear with his left – when he really should have done so with his right – only to slice it past Petr Cech into his own net. 1-1.
Arsenal transfer news
Sunderland played fairly well in the first half, but we still should have held the lead going into the break. Hopefully we can get the win in the second half and not let more points slip away needlessly.
