I have been impressed with Kim Kallstrom. I do not think Wenger should get rid of him. He has gone about his job without fuss. He is definitely a no frills player but I highly expected him to have improved by next season after settling in this season.
It is definitely not his fault that his injury was not discovered during his medical. I have a problem with Arsenal’s physios. They are incompetent and archaic in the way they go about their business. How else can one explain the number of injuries Arsenal suffer in a season. Anyway enough about them.
What I like about Kim Kallstrom is the experience and calm that he brings to Arsenal’s midfield. I will always refer to his nonchalance during the penalty shootout against Wigan in the FA cup. He was so confident and even looked away before the ball hit the back of the net without breaking his smile. Unbelievable penalty. Three days later and Wenger decided to play him in a must win Premier League game against West Ham. Again he did not disappoint playing his heart out all the time with a smile on his face. He was enjoying his football without any pressure to perform.
Kallstrom is versatile. He can play as a deep lying playmaker or in a more attacking position. He had the potential to play as a winger but I am sure he has lost a yard of pace. I was looking forward to watching him whip in those free kicks that he is so renowned for. He would have been a valuable back up to have in midfield with a reasonable price tag to boot.
Wenger has said Kallstrom will leave at the end of the season and I respect his decision so I would like to take the opportunity to thank Kallstrom for his contribution to our season.
