After just arriving at Kuala Lumpur to prepare for the first-leg of Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Asia, manager Arsene Wenger has publicly stated his view of the transfer rumours surrounding Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas, as well as confirming that former Lille striker Gervinho has already signed for the Gunners.
Firstly on the topic of Samir Nasri, Wenger remains confident about him staying at the Emirates for the coming season even though he has been heavily linked with premier league rivals Manchester City and Manchester United and also maintains he is happy at Arsenal saying: “I expect Samir Nasri to stay. There is always speculation, but he is committed to the club right now.
”Will he be at the club next season? I say yes. The second part (of the question) – will he sign a new contract? I hope yes, but I am not the only one to decide.”
While confident Nasri will be here next season, doubts are still present about his long-term commitment with French newspaper L’equip reporting he would be happy to just see out the remaining 12 months on his contract allowing him to leave the Emirates for no fee next summer. No doubt we all hope Wenger can persuade him to put pen to paper.
Similarly when talking about Fabregas, Wenger was also upbeat about his future with the gunners saying: “Yes, I am convinced Cesc will stay.
“It is as simple as that. I never speak about what’s happening behind closed doors. Cesc loves the club and hopefully we’ll manage.

“We know that this story for Barcelona goes on for years now and we have to close that and for ourselves to focus on the season hopefully with Cesc Fabregas.
“It’s given too many headlines to newspapers for too much time, I think it’s enough.”
With the idea that Fabregas and Nasri are set to stay many Arsenal fans will breath a sigh of relief after finally hearing some positive news. Further adding to this positive news Wenger also finally confirmed the signing of Ivory Coast forward Gervinho saying: “Gervinho has just joined up for training today at London Colney,” he added. “He signed last Thursday, and has just come back from his holidays.”
On a personal note the idea of both Fabregas and Nasri staying, as well as the signing of a good striker to possibly partner van Persie up front is great news for Arsenal fans. While great news it also raises questions about how he will be played in the team. If Fabregas does indeed stay, will Arsene still employ the 4-3-3 formation and deploy him on the wing or will he re-shuffle to employ the rumoured 4-4-2 formation and allow him to partner van Persie up front? If so what will this mean for midfield players such as Song and Wilshere? What do you think will happen?
