The continuous saga of Samir Nasri’s exit from the Emirates continues as, reported in The Telegraph, Wenger has admitted for the first time that the Frenchman could be on his way out if no contract extension is completed
Wenger stated: “[It is] not completely [sorted that Samir will stay] but I want him to stay,”
“He knows that. Hopefully we can sort that out in the coming weeks.”
Wenger had previously been adamant that Nasri would stay and, while his latest comments could be related to a difficulty in the contract talks, but nevertheless they will provide encouragement to the two Manchester clubs who are monitoring the negations closely.
On Cesc Fabregas, Arsenal are still waiting to see whether Barcelona are genuinely willing to meet their £40 million valuation. “There is no movement at all,” said Wenger.
Manuel Almunia, Nicklas Bendtner and Emmanuel Eboue have all also missed the trip to Cologne. Eboue is rumoured to be close to a move to the Turkish club Galatasaray, while Abou Diaby has been ruled out of the start of the season due to his ankle injury.

“As long as the situation is not settled, we have to focus on the coming season with the players we have,” said Wenger. “The players who are uncertain, it is difficult for them to focus on being completely committed.”
It seems unusual that it’s been so difficult for Arsenal players to find clubs elsewhere as they should really be of a ‘high calibre’ if they’re representing the Gunners, but signs aren’t looking encouraging for Nasri. It makes sense that he doesn’t remain at the Emirates as if we can get a decent amount of coin for a player that doesn’t want to be stay then he shouldn’t be in Wenger’s plans. What do you think? Is it worth keeping Nasri and seeing if he does sign a new contract WHEN we get some silverware? Or do we cash in and get somebody that actually wants to play for Arsenal for the long term?
