Injured midfielder Jack Wilshere has attempted to mend his latest ankle injury with an exogen machine to speed up the process of his recovery in order to play the tail end of the Gunners season and make England’s Euro 2012 squad this summer.
The young starlet has been out since last June after initially injuring his ankle in the Emirates Cup and was nearing his return this month. However another stress fracture hit the Arsenal Academy graduate in training last month, essentially ruling him out for majority of the season.
Wilshere is currently on holiday with his girlfriend and son, and the 20-year-old posted on Twitter a picture of the device attached to his ankle and tweeted:
Dear exogen machine…please heal me quicker…love from your number one customer!
The machine is an ultrasound bone healing system and is the only bone healing device that is proven to accelerate the healing of fractures.
Hopefully the system will have some impact on his recovery and the youngster can come back in time for the tail end of the season. However it would be more beneficial for Arsenal and for his ankle if he just sits out the rest of the season and the Euro’s to have a decent preseason to properly heal his ankle and minimize the risk of a setback.
But as an Englishman I certainly would like Wilshere back in the Euro squad, but only if he is 200% recovered because they certainly need his agility and flare in the aging midfield.
