AS Monaco midfielder Joao Moutinho looks likely to leave the Ligue 1 side this summer, and we have been tipped as a possible destination, according to the Express.
The 28-year-old is a top quality midfielder, and is one of the few remaining stars from Monaco’s spending spree a few seasons back. With the Portuguese midfielder on a reported salary of £100,000 per week (via the Metro) and Monaco in the midst of a financial crisis, Moutinho has apparently been put up for sale.
The Express’ report claims we are facing competition from Manchester United, Zenit St Petersburg, and his old club Porto, but it’s questionable whether we are even in for the creative midfielder.

We are well stocked in midfielders, and Moutinho would be battling for a spot with the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, and Santi Cazorla. We are more in need of a defensive midfielder, which the Monaco man certainly isn’t.
It’s hard to see this one happening, and our money could certainly be invested better elsewhere.
