The report suggests Gotze has privately admitted his desire to make the switch to Liverpool, with the German international keen to reunite with former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp.
The 23-year-old broke onto the scene under Klopp, but has struggled since the two parted ways. His only really notable act since then was the World Cup winning goal in 2014, and though that may be a big one, he’s certainly fallen from grace since leaving Dortmund; essentially becoming a Bayern Munich bench warmer.
The Express claims Bayern are willing to let him go for a fraction of what they paid for him too, insisting that Liverpool can seal the transfer for £15-20m.
While Gotze isn’t exactly what we need, the chance to sign a player of his quality for £15m can’t be ignored. He may have his heart set on Liverpool already, but if there’s a possibility that we could pinch him from under their noses then we need to look into it.
The chance for Champions League football could certainly be a factor, but his history with Jurgen Klopp could prove difficult to overcome.

Arsenal transfer news
If Liverpool do complete the signing of Gotze it would be a real coup, and we really don’t want to see them strengthening any more. Klopp already looks likely to turn them into a far better side, and we don’t want to have to deal with more competition. The top four is already tightly contested, and if Liverpool continue to strengthen then we could be battling with six or seven teams for those top spots.
