The arrival of a defensive midfielder is looking less and less likely, with top target Grzegorz Krychowiak committing his future to Sevilla.
We have been linked with a £21.2m move for the Polish international (via The Independent), and he looked like one of the last available targets of any real quality. It seems we’ll have to look elsewhere now though, with the 25-year-old taking to social media to announce his decision.
Krychowiak posted this tweet, translating roughly as: “I’ll stay at the Sanchez Pijuan for next season.”

He has been hugely impressive since joining Sevilla last summer, and would be a fantastic signing were we to lure him away. This revelation suggests we’d obviously have to wait if we want to bring him to the Emirates though, and waiting isn’t something we can afford to do.

Francis Coquelin is currently our only option, and we’ve seen how important he is to the team. Were he to suffer an injury or a dip in form we’d be in serious trouble, so Arsene Wenger needs to dip back into the transfer market and turn his attention elsewhere.
