We have long been linked with a move for Julian Draxler (via the Mirror), but looked set to miss out. Schalke have apparently looked to tie him down to a new long-term contract, but the German youngster has rejected the deal in an attempt to force a move away, according to Italian publication Football Italia.
As the report suggests, Draxler has looked close to a move to Serie A side Juventus in recent weeks, but the deal is yet to go through. Arsene Wenger is known to be a fan of the talented 21-year-old, so it’s possible he could be tempted by a last ditch bid.
We have been linked with a £21m move for Draxler in the last few days (via the Mirror), but Juventus seem a lot closer to completing the deal. The report also suggests we are facing competition from VfL Wolfsburg, so we really need to move quickly if we want to secure his signature.

Draxler doesn’t seem like exactly what we need, and an out and out striker should still be a priority. He boasts a huge amount of promise though, and certainly wouldn’t be a bad acquisition.
