The 27-year-old has been fantastic recently, with his goals and assists record rivaling the best in the world. After turning down a new contract with the Bundesliga side (via the Express) he appears to be on his way out, and the report suggests we’re leading the race for his signature.
Chelsea are also monitoring the Armenian’s situation, but the player himself apparently wants a move to Arsenal. The report claims we’ve already spoken to the player’s representatives and his agent Mino Raiola about a potential move, with only the transfer fee needing to be finalised with Dortmund.
The German side are apparently demanding £24m for the in-form midfielder, although with just a year left on his current contract (via the Express) they aren’t in the best bargaining position.
Mkhitaryan would be a fantastic signing if we can lure him to north London, and his style certainly seems like it would appeal to Arsene Wenger. He often plays in a No.10 role for Dortmund, but over the course of the season he’s played in every midfield and wing position for the German giants. Arsenal’s No.10 spot is obviously taken up by Mesut Özil, so if Mkhitaryan were to arrive he’d presumably be deployed on the right-wing – moving inside regularly the way Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey so often do when fielded there.

Arsenal transfer news
If he really does want to secure a move to Arsenal over anywhere else, then there’s not a huge amount Dortmund can do. They won’t want to risk losing him for nothing next summer, so may be forced to sell him for less than his value over the next couple of months.
