Edinson Cavani has apparently become a top target for Arsenal this summer, with the Jamie Vardy deal seemingly set to fall through, according to the Express.

Jamie Vardy looked certain to make the switch to north London last week, but that appears to have fallen flat after a change of heart. Arsene Wenger has apparently switched his attention to Cavani instead, with the Express reporting that the Uruguayan has recently confirmed that he wants to play in the Premier League.
The report goes on to say that Cavani was offered a massive £500,000 per week wage packet to make a move to China, but rejected it in order to make a switch to the English top flight.
Cavani scored 27 goals in all competitions last season, certainly a decent return. The fact that he was often playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic makes it all the more impressive, and you’d expect him to improve on that when given more game time alone up front.
With Ibrahimovic also seemingly on his way out of PSG this summer (via the Express) it seems questionable that they’d let both their strikers leave, but if Cavani is looking to force his way out then the Ligue 1 champions may have plans to bring in a new striker.

If Cavani does have his heart set on a move to the Premier League then there are very few options likely to appeal to him, with Champions League football presumably still a priority. We seem like the only realistic option, and although he’s not as popular as a number of other big name strikers, he’s unquestionably a forward of real quality.
