Arsene Wenger has received a big boost in his reported pursuit of Mario Gotze, with his Bayern Munich teammate Thomas Muller revealing that the 23-year-old is not happy in the German capital, as reported by Sky Sports.
German outlet Bild (via the Express) have been linking us with a £31m move for the attacking midfielder, claiming that we’re willing to match Liverpool’s bid and beat them to the punch. If Gotze really is unhappy at Bayern then that should help smooth any potential transfer, although we’ll still need to beat the competition to his signature.
Muller insisted that he didn’t want to say too much, but did reveal that Gotze wasn’t satisfied with his current role with the German giants.
“I speak with Mario and think he is not 100 per cent satisfied with his situation at Bayern,” Muller said (via Sky Sports).
“But I am not Mario’s agent, so I am not going to speak about his future.”
Gotze has struggled for form and fitness at Bayern recently, and unless new boss Carlo Ancelotti has big plans for him then it seems very possible that the World Cup winner will be on his way out this summer.

Sky Sports suggest he’ll either make the switch back to Borussia Dortmund or move to the Premier League – with either Liverpool or Arsenal.
He obviously has a history with current Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, but assuming he wants to continue to play Champions League football and challenge for titles, he can’t really look any further than Arsenal.
Arsenal transfer news
We arguably already have plenty of talented, diminutive attacking midfielders, but when on form Gotze really is one of the best around. He can play in a variety of positions too, and it would be silly to pass up the opportunity to sign him. Hopefully Muller is right and the former Dortmund man is looking for an exit, and that exit leads him to the Emirates this summer.
