Riyad Mahrez has apparently told Leicester City that he wants to leave this summer, giving Arsenal a huge boost in the hunt for his signature, as reported by Goal.

While Jamie Vardy has been the player most heavily linked with us over the last few days (via Goal), Mahrez seems like he could potentially be en-route to the Emirates too.
The report reveals that Mahrez is currently on a meagre £35,000 at Leicester, which is ridiculous considering the role he played in their Premier League title win. They will no doubt look to keep him at the club by tying him down to a new long-term deal, but we can surely offer him more than they ever could.
We’ve reportedly lodged a £25m deal for the Algerian winger (via the Express), which as we’ve heard very little follow up about you’d assume has been rejected. It was previously reported that Leicester valued the 25-year-old at closer to £35m (via the Daily Mail), a figure Arsene Wenger can surely match if he really wants to sign Mahrez this summer.
While he would no doubt be a fantastic signing however, Mahrez may not be Wenger’s first choice this summer. We’ve also been heavily linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan (via The Sun), with the report suggesting we’re set to seal a £25m move for the Armenian international.

Arsenal transfer news
Despite an early move for Granit Xhaka, Wenger isn’t known for moving quickly in the transfer market. He may be weighing up his options and hoping to get his top target before making a decision on anybody else, and while very few Arsenal fans would turn their noses up at Mahrez, Mkhitaryan might arguably prove a better signing.
