As Christmas time only comes once a year, we are now back into the summer madness of the transfer window.
And as like some years you may spot a robin hopping around your front lawn, it will generally fill you with some sort of delight and nostalgia about Christmas being on its way and usually the thought of a crisp icy lawn.
Not many people know however that the robin is not the cute red breasted bird is is perceived initially. Have you ever thought why you generally only see one robin in the garden? The reason is that they fight, and its generally to the death. Surely there cannot be many species that are as likely to be their own faults for their own extinction as the robin.
Well I can see a certain Robin hopping around this window. Once this Robin used to fill us with glee at any occasion we saw him in our garden. He didn’t need to kill any other birds as he was already the king.
However, this Robin just like the festive bird had a dark side. He wanted to fly away as he believed that there was nicer fruit in a garden that was up north. Therefore, he left. But the worst part was that once this Robin left he decided to speak badly of the club.
Robin Van Persie let’s face it was unstoppable for at least two of his final seasons with us. He single handedly lifted us to the Champions League during the last couple of seasons. He then went to United for two things – money and to win the Premier League.

He then carried the Red Devils to the league in his first season but since has really been like his early days with Arsenal and has been plagued with injuries that has prevented him gathering a decent string of matches.
Now I have been an Arsenal fan since I was 7 years old and I know that perhaps I will be berated by some readers for my next comment but I realise that football is a business and it has changed so much these past 10 years and I also realise that I would enjoy to see that Robin in our garden again. (Oh and I would also probably throw Nasri into that mix. But let’s keep with Robin for now)
Once fit, and playing games I still think there is not many better than him in Europe. He would offer a different perspective to Giroud and in my opinion would probably be first choice in front of Giroud. We know he can score goals and convert in pretty much any way and will more often than not take his chances, all of the things that people Giroud cannot do.
I would urge anyone to deny that they wouldn’t have made that same choice Van Persie made when he left. He looked around to see everyone leaving and this was when we were just making Champions League qualification due to his goals. He was offered more money, the opportunity to work with the greatest manager of all time, and to play for a side that were competing for the Premier League title. Anyone offered a similar role that they currently hold in any industry would have made the same choice.
So really all I am looking to forgive him for the nonsense of the ”little boy inside” crap that came out after he signed. Which the fact that Arsenal re-signed the rubbish Mathieu Flamini, I am happy to forgive RVP.
There are talks that Juventus, who by the way have just competed in the Champions League final, and pissed Serie A (so they are no mugs) are looking to sign RVP for around £5m (via Daily Mail)…. £5 MILLION!!! What do you get for £5 Million these days in world football? You can buy three RVPs for the same price as 1 Balotelli for instance..
Therefore my question is would you consider having Van Persie back at the club?
You know my answer.
