Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s game against Everton this weekend, manager Arsene Wenger confirmed a double injury blow; admitting that Aaron Ramsey and David Ospina would be kept out of action until after the next international break (via Arsenal.com). Ospina has been sidelined since returning from Colombia after the previous international break, while Ramsey picked up a hamstring injury in the second half of the game against Bayern Munich.
Ramsey pulled up short when chasing the ball and immediately asked to come off, clutching his thigh. After the game, the manager revealed that the player would likely be sidelined, but declined to give any further details until a checkup. Today, Wenger clarified that the Welshman had been put through a scan and that he would be unlikely to return anytime soon (via (Arsenal.com).
Speaking to Arsenal Player, Wenger said, “He [Ramsey] had a scan today but he’s out. I believe he will be out until after the next international break. With the [last] international break, the fact that he played against Andorra certainly cost [Gareth] Bale and him as well.
“David Ospina is out for our next game and certainly until the next international break.
“For them [Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck], you can say around the New Year.”
The next break is scheduled to occur between the 9th-20th of November, which means that Ramsey will be unlikely to return to first team action for a month minimum. In that time, he will miss matches like the reverse fixture against Bayern in the Champions League and the North London Derby against Tottenham. With the size of our squad being so small, this is a massive blow. Here’s wishing the Welshman all the best and hopefully he returns to action according to schedule.
