Alex Iwobi has claimed that Chuba Akpom will follow his footsteps and play a bigger role in the Arsenal first-team soon (via The Metro).
There have been more than a few youth players to break through to the Arsenal first-team in the last few years.
From the ones signed like Hector Bellerin, Cesc Fabregas and Aaron Ramsey to the Arsenal players from the beginning like Jack Wilshere and Ashley Cole, the Gunners have a passion for youth.
Alex Iwobi is a go-to example. The youngster has been at Arsenal since he was a child and is now an important part of the first-team squad.
The Nigerian has made over 60 appearances for the club and now, the 21-year-old has predicted which youth product will be the next player to come through.

“I don’t know who to expect because you never know at this time who will come through but I would say Chuba Akpom,” Iwobi revealed in a fan’s question and answer session.
“He’s next to join. I knew Chuba since the age of three, playing Sunday league with him and we’re still at Arsenal together.”
Chuba Akpom made his Premier League debut back in 2013 but hasn’t really established himself in the first-team setup. The forward has an excellent goalscoring record at youth level, both domestically and for England at various age divisions. Akpom is clearly talented but it remains to be seen whether or not he can make it into the first-team.
