The CIES Football Observatory is a private foundation prominent in sports related research, but their latest findings has led to some questionable results.
Compiling a list of the best performing players under the age of 23 in each position this season, the position our English star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been placed in is quite staggering.
In the top 15 forwards U-23 in Europe, Chamberlain came last behind the likes of Erik Lamela, Saido Mane and Raheem Sterling.
The organisation claims that their conclusions are based on statistics, which is quite unbelievable when Lamela’s stats are analysed. According to WhoScored, the Argentine has scored just 5 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions this season.
Arsenal transfer rumours
The fact that he’s remained present the whole season would surely affect his score when comparing him to Chamberlain who has struggled with various injury problems.

Chamberlain’s efficiency in front of goal isn’t impressive either, but he certainly has more of an impact on games than Spurs’ multi-million pound flop.
Following his return to full fitness, Chamberlain will certainly be looking to develop his game further and become one of Europe’s most devastating forwards – a stature well within his capabilities.
