Arsene Wenger has today revealed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remains two weeks away from returning from a groin injury which has kept him out since the Manchester City victory.

It was thought, at the time, that ‘the Ox’s’ groin injury wasn’t too serious, but the midfielder will have been out for a month by the time he eventually returns to the first team.
Concern continues to heighten for the former Southampton man after he revealed this week that a chronic groin problem has been irritating him this term.
Despite being ever-present in our team this season alongside Alexis Sanchez and Per Mertesacker, there is a clear problem with Oxlade-Chamberlain’s fitness.

“I have had quite a lot of injuries this year, with a few niggles and groin problems, but I’ve played through all of it and even when I’ve been in discomfort for most of the games, I have been able to manage it,” Chamberlain told the Evening Standard this week.
The fact that Wenger’s previous update on our no.15 was that he had a chance for the Tottenham Hotspur game at the weekend, just how the situation has gone from “just short for Spurs”, to a further two weeks out is baffling.

The injury situation has genuinely been a bit more controlled this season in terms of players returning on time, but a ‘setback’ culture still exists at the club.
Hopefully, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s groin problems can be cured swiftly and the winger can help us in the run-in.
