The Cameroon international left the north London club and completed his move to Camp Nou in the summer of 2012. Since his move to Spain, Song has failed to cement a place in Barcelona’s starting lineup with Sergio Busquets being preferred ahead of him in the defensive midfield position.
The 26 year old has made just 39 appearances in all competitions for the Catalan side following his transfer to Spain and has been linked with a switch back to Arsenal.
The defensive midfielder who spent six years with the Gunners said that a return to Emirates Stadium could well be on the cards.
According to RMC Sport, he said:
Get out of Barcelona? No. I’m think of staying. We have a new coach with a system of effective rotations. I have until January to decide, but I’m not thinking about leaving. I’m here to work
I do not know what will happen in the future, but it is true that I spent some fantastic seasons there [at Arsenal].

We will see what happens, but for now I’m a Barcelona player.
Song started just 17 games in La Liga last season and, under new coach Tata Martino, has started three of eight league fixtures this campaign. For a player whose career had been on the rise at Arsenal ahead of his £15 million move in 2012, it must be a source of tremendous frustration.
He had a great career at Arsenal and in his final season too he was absolutely fantastic and managed to get a whole lot of assists which was even more incredible considering his position on the pitch, however he often neglected his main job which was actually to protect the back four.
Man United are also said to be keen on Song and their need in that department may be more urgent than Arsenal. The Gunners have plenty of talent in the midfield position with Flamini making the defensive position his own. So I don’t think there is any slot available for the Cameroon international in the first team but if we sign him he would add quality on the bench.
He would be available for a relatively cheap price and considering Wenger’s recent history of bringing back ex-players I wouldn’t bet against his return. If the price is right I think Arsenal should consider resigning him.
