Arsene Wenger has likened superb summer signing Alexis Sanchez to Arsenal legend Ian Wright. The Frenchman claims Sanchez shares a number of characteristics with the former Gunner, including his enthusiasm, according to ESPN.
The Chilean has been sensational since joining the club from Barcelona this past summer, and kept us in the race for the top when we were under-performing at the start of the season.
Wenger praised Sanchez’s hard working nature, and revealed just how important a player he has become for us since his £35m signing.
“He is a bit like Ian Wright. His enthusiasm, the enthusiasm of Ian Wright,” he said.
“He is dynamic and he does both parts of the game. He’s important in the team because of that.

“Sanchez wins you the ball back quickly as well. The transitions are very good from defence to attack and attack to defence.
The manager also revealed that the 26-year-old was incredibly close to being fit to play against Tottenham on the weekend, an addition that could have drastically changed the outcome.
It was probably sensible not to risk his fitness however, as if he were to be ruled out for any serious length of time our campaign would surely suffer.
“It was difficult for him not to play [against Tottenham]. If it was the last game of the season, he would’ve played.”
The tireless forward should be back for our Premier League clash with Leicester City this Tuesday, but whether he will be fit enough to start remains to be seen.
