Alexis Sanchez was expected to miss the first game or two of the season, with the Chilean only recently returning to England following a summer break. The former Barcelona star was handed an extended holiday due to his successful involvement in the Copa America, and missed the entirety of our pre-season campaign.
Despite the 26-year-old expected to miss a handful of games, he has been named on the bench for our clash with West Ham, and may make an appearance as a substitute.

We arguably should have expected the tireless workhorse to return sooner than expected, as his work ethic is phenomenal. He clearly just wants to play football, and looks constantly frustrated when the ball isn’t at his feet.
He wasn’t sitting around while on holiday this past summer, and was seen training hard back in Chile ahead of the new campaign (via The Independent).
We enjoyed a superb pre-season without Alexis, but it will be a huge boost for him to return sooner rather than later. He will be instrumental to any title challenge we are looking to mount this season, so hopefully he builds on his successful debut campaign at the Emirates.
