With the summer transfer window now open we’ve decided to take a look at who the bookies are suggesting that Arsenal will acquire this summer, and there certainly are some interesting odds around check it out:
1. Clint Dempsey
The Gunners are now second favourites to sign the American according to Skybet, with the bookies placing him at 6/1 to join the North London side this summer. Prior to the transfer window opening Arsenal were in poll position odds-wise to sign the Fulham forward, but since have dropped down in the pecking order as rumours are hotting up over his move to Anfield instead.
He has however been linked with Wenger’s side for a number of years, and after an impressive season for the Cottagers that has seen the attacking midfielder named fourth in the Player of the Year award, he will be hot property this summer with only one more year left on his contract. Liverpool are currently the front runners for his signature at 7/4, but will Arsene Wenger put a bid in for the consistent performer? It’s clear Arsenal need a new attacking midfielder to compete with Rosicky and Ramsey who haven’t managed to fill the creative void created by Fabreags and Na$ri’s depature, so maybe Dempsey could be the answer?
2. Arjen Robben
The Dutch master who came so close to Champions League glory over the weekend is tipped for a summer departure, especially after the latest episode after the Bayern faithful booed the forward during the sides friendly against the Netherlands national side, in which Robben played for his country (and fair enough too!)
Arsenal are third favourites to gain his signature at 8/1, with Chelsea and Juve leading the way at 3/1 and 5/1 respectively. He’s been linked with the Gunners earlier on in the season but he has extended his terms with Bayern, however if he grows unsettled in Germany perhaps Wenger can sanction a move for a player that would be a sensational purchase for the Gunners. If Wenger wants to retain Van Persie, Robben could be the key!
3. Victor Moses
The Wigan winger who caused all sorts of problems against the Gunners recently has odds of 5/1 to move to the Emirates this summer. His man of the match performances against the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United which helped to inspire the Latics to safety towards the end of the season has been hotly tipped for a move to a big club this summer.
Although the Gunners are second favourites, it’s hard to see anything coming from this rumour, especially for a player that was often ominousness throughout parts of the season.
4. Junior Hoillet
One of the most talked about transfer targets for the Gunners this summer is justified by odds of 3/1 for the Blackburn winger to make his way to the Emirates this summer. The Gunners are second favourites to sign the 21-year-old Canadian winger who is set to leave Ewood Park with his contract expired, after eight years of service.
With Walcott set for contract talks, if things don’t go smoothly then Hoillet might be a good investment for the Gunners, or even if he does re-sign and the likes or Arshavin, Park and Chamakh are sold off then perhaps the Canadian could provide competition for Walcott, The Ox, Miyaichi, Gervinho and Podolski on the wings.

So there’s four of most likely candidates to join the Gunners this summer, with M’Vila not even on the list as many pundits are backing the Frenchman to be heading to the Emirates anyway.
Another name that pops up on the skybet transfer list is RVP. There is much speculation over the future of Robin Van Persie at present with the Dutchman entering the final year of his contract at the end of this season.
Here’s the odds for RVP’s ‘next’ club:
Robin Van Persie:
Juventus 2/1
Manchester City 2/1
Real Madrid 6/1
Barcelona 8/1
Manchester Utd 16/1
AC Milan 25/1
Bayern Munich 28/1

Will he really go to Manchester City? If he wants to win the Premiership then it seems like a smart choice. But really the only clubs I could ever see Van Persie playing for is Barcelona or Real Madrid, with Barca now admitting they won’t be bidding for the Dutchman it seems even more likely that he will re-sign with the Gunners.
So what do you think? Will Wenger make a swoop for Dempsey this summer? He would be a cheap buy and with a wealth of premier league experience he could be as successful as Arteta has been since making the switch to North London. Moses seems unlikely, while Robben would more likely move to a richer club like United, City or Chelsea , but the biggest transfer speculation that will have Gooners glued to the news (and allArsenal.com) will be the future of captain Vantastic. But I’m quietly confident he will sign a new deal.
