Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan will remain with the La Liga giants for the upcoming season according to agents, squashing rumours of a potential switch to Arsenal (via Goal.com).
The Turkey international has struggled for playing time since his move from Atletico Madrid last season, managing just 810 minutes in the league campaign with the engine room heavily stocked in Catalonia.
The 29-year-old, like most players thought to be ‘available’ on the market, has this week been linked with the Gunners despite Arsene Wenger confirming he was not looking for further midfield reinforcements.
Any likelihood of a deal certainly looks dead in the water now after Turan’s agent Ahmed Bulut confessed there has been no approach from the Gunners to date and his client wants to fight for his place with Barcelona.
“No, I haven’t heard anything from Arsenal. Arda will be staying at Barcelona,” Bulut told Goal.
Turan is likely to have more of an impact this season after missing half of last season due to Barcelona’s transfer ban. The midfielder, who left Atleti in the summer last year, was forced to miss all matches for the first six months of the campaign which naturally had an impact on his match fitness and preparation for the remainder of the season.

From an Arsenal perspective, this deal was never going to happen. We are well stocked in midfield now after the signing of Mohamed Elneny in January, then Granit Xhaka this summer. Even with the departures of Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky, it’s safe to say the Gunners have options aplenty.
