Arsenal are set to loan out both Yaya Sanogo and Lukas Podolski over the next week, and with strong suggestions Arsene Wenger has his eyes on PSG centre forward Edinson Cavani, is it possible the Gunners may smash their transfer record once more?
Seems incredibly unlikely. But according to the Express, Arsenal are among a number of potential suitors who have been alerted to the Uruguayan’s potential departure. It appears he may not be allowed to depart until the summer however despite missing the clubs winter training camp in Marrakesh and preparations back on French soil recently.
The Gunners currently have Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck as their main central striker options, neither have yet to break into the top bracket of strikers in European football however and there has been plenty of paper talk linking us with the ex-Napoli hit man.
Cavani has struggled in the shadow of Zlatan Ibrahimovic at PSG but is still regarded as one of Europe’s elite central strikers. His departure this summer seems inevitable and England has been touted as potential destination. As for Arsenal buying the Uruguay star? Doubt it. Wenger likes Giroud and the Frenchman offers the team a lot, and having just spent a decent fee on Welbeck in the summer it is likely he will be given time to improve under the tutorship of Le Professeur.
It seems Sanogo is off for a temporary deal to gain some valuable experience and Podolski will be leapfrogged by the returning Mesut Ozil in the pecking order. Not convinced Wenger is making room for a ludicrously expensive Cavani bid. Do you agree Gooners?
