Arsenal vs Manchester United
Barclay’s Premier League
Kick off: November 22nd, 2014 17.30 PM BST
It was another disappointing match for us. It’s not like we played badly – no, we didn’t – but we failed to beat the worst Manchester United side in the last 25 years. Not just that – we lost at home to them. There are no excuses left for Arsene Wenger even if he wasn’t the one that failed to put the ball into the net.
Here are the ratings.
Wojciech Szczesny | 5.5: Lack of communication with Gibbs got us and Szczesny in trouble. The Pole suffered an injury and conceded a goal in the same attack. Didn’t have anything to deal with apart from a few crosses from Manchester United players.
Calum Chambers | 6.25: Had some great moves at the beginning of the match and made an important block in the first half to deny Rooney’s shot that would probably have ended in the net. Didn’t continue at the same level in the second half.
Per Mertesacker | 5.5: He looks off the pace and our attempt to play pressing high up the pitch doesn’t help him at all. Was dangerous at corners in the first half. Stayed in the opponents’ half far too much.

Nacho Monreal | 5.75: It’s not like he was at fault for the goals but for the most of the second half he was left all alone by his partner.
Kieran Gibbs | 5.5: The unluckiest person today. He managed to injure Szczesny and to score an own goal within seconds. Tried to make amends at the other half of the pitch but couldn’t do much.
Mikel Arteta | 5.75: He didn’t have a bad game but he isn’t the holding midfielder we need.
Jack Wilshere | 6.75: He looked energetic and sharp for the biggest part of the match but failed to score a sitter or to pass the ball to Alexis who would have scored it. He entered into a brawl with Fellaini and was lucky not to be sent off. Was subbed off after a nasty ankle twist.
Aaron Ramsey | 5.75: He is not in form but he plays every game despite that. Looked well at the very beginning.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain | 6.75: Was sharp in the first half and a constant trouble for Shaw. Failed to score from an awkward angle – he should have opted for a pass instead.
Alexis | 6.5: Not the best of performances from the Chilean who looked a bit tired after an international trip. Failed to make an impact in this game. Had two dangerous attempts.
Danny Welbeck | 6.0: Sorry, but it won’t work with this kind of finishing. He was wasteful in front of goal again but he got higher mark for his hard-work. His finishing, however, is somewhere between the Kaba Diawara’s and Gervinho’s.
Emiliano Martinez | 5.5: Didn’t have a lot to deal with but conceded a goal from a sitter.
Olivier Giroud | 7.0 (MoTM): The big Frenchman is back and he showed to his team-mates how shooting should be performed. He scored a magnificent goal but it wasn’t enough. He has played just 85 minutes in the league and has scored the same number of goals as Welbeck has scored in 786 minutes. At least Giroud has scored a goal against a big club.
