Our pre-season campaign got off to a positive start after a team filled with many youngsters produced a dominant display against a Singapore XI.
Chuba Akpom was the star of the show after notching a hat-trick in front of our overseas fans, and Arsene Wenger will have taken plenty from an enjoyable encounter.
Here are five things the boss may have learnt in our first pre-season game.
5) Mathieu Debuchy vs Hector Bellerin
- ‘Break club record spend or look elsewhere’ Arsenal told
- Arsenal eye player Lionel Messi claimed to be ‘similar to Xavi’
- Arsenal urged to buy ‘January transfer window bargain’ for £6m
Wenger may have needed just a few moments to make up his mind as to who our first choice right-back will be next term, with Bellerin’s impressive cameo once again shining the spotlight on Debuchy’s deficencies.
The Frenchman endured a tough afternoon, and with our full-backs mostly operating in the opposition’s half, his attacking prowess was under scrutiny.
Bellerin immediately came on and made a difference to our offensive cohesion, something which will no doubt please the boss.
