Our move to sign Chelsea’s Petr Cech seemed like a matter of when rather than if recently, with Sky Sports reporting that we had agreed personal terms in principal with the veteran shot-stopper.
It now seems that ‘when’ is going to be sooner than many might have expected though, with the same source claiming via Twitter that a £10.9m fee has been agreed.

Transfer rumours can’t always be taken seriously over the summer months, as we are often linked with every player and his dog the moment the season ends. When it’s reported by somewhere as credible as Sky Sports however, you can really start believing there is some truth in it.
BREAKING: Sky Sources: Arsenal agree £10.9m fee with Chelsea for Petr Cech. #SSNHQ

The Czech international will really add something to our side, and is still one of the finest keepers in the Premier League. We currently have two decent options in Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina, but you would certainly argue that Cech is an improvement on both.

£10.9m is arguably too much for a 33-year-old with less than a year left on his current contract (via The Telegraph), but considering his quality and what he’ll bring to the side, it’s hard to complain about the expenditure.
