Arsenal have been named in a list of the top 10 best paid global sports teams, in a study concluded by calculating the average pay of the first team squad of every major sports team during this season, Sporting Intelligence reports.
In a list which also includes other sporting giants, the average weekly wage given to a player in our squad stands at £77,963, which further illustrates our financial escalation over the past few years.
Arsene Wenger has often spoken about adhering to a socialist wage structure within the squad, which meant that top players earned the same as those less valuable to our team.

Fast forward two years, and the landscape has shifted significantly to counter the player departures we suffered coupled with the rise of our financial power.
Commercial deals have risen, and with the signings of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil, the financial packages paid to bring the pair to our club were previously unimaginable.
According to reports in Spain, via the Metro, Alexis is currently on £150,000 – far from the ‘socialist structure’ Wenger alluded to 24 months ago.
We entered the top 10 this year in the table following our summer spree having previously been listed at No.11.
The fact that we’re among financial sporting behemoths shows how far we’ve come, and that we now have the tools to challenge for the two major trophies.
