Arsenal have announced that goalkeeper Bernd Leno will wear the number 19 shirt for the Gunners (via Arsenal.com).
It’s Bernd Leno’s first day of training as an Arsenal player since his move from Bayer Leverkusen several weeks ago.
His signature has somewhat gone under the radar with many Arsenal fans eager to see their new goalkeeper in action before giving their thoughts on the transfer.
Leno was given an extended break from first-team training duties last week but has today taken part in the session at London Colney
In light of that, the club has also announced that Leno will wear the number 19 shirt for the coming season after Petr Cech’s move to number one.

The shirt was vacated after the departure of Santi Cazorla over the summer.
It’s going to be strange to see so many new shirt numbers on display at the Emirates next season. Bernd Leno would surely have wanted the number one jersey but may have to wait a few more years yet. Leno will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of the fans’ favourites who have previously worn the number 19 shirt like Cazorla and Gilberto Silva.
