Arsenal have been dealt a damaging blow in our reported attempts to land Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema after his agent confirmed that his client will not move this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Bryan Swanson.

It had been suggested that Benzema was Arsene Wenger’s main transfer target and that the boss would wait until the final moments of the window to land his compatriot (via El Confidencial).
The centre forward position is one we’d hoped would be strengthened for a number of years, but it seems as though we’ll miss out on another target yet again.
Olivier Giroud has led the line admirably over the past few years; however, his limitations are evident and the fact that he’s yet to hit the 20-goal mark speaks volumes.

Over the past few years, each title-winning team has had a ruthless marksman leading the line to carry the team towards the finish. If, as expected, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are our main competitors, then their strikers compared to ours makes for pretty grim reading.
Diego Costa, Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney and Olivier Giroud.
Ouch!
