Our pursuit of Karim Benzema is no secret (via the Daily Star), but it seems we aren’t the only ones in the hunt for his signature. Bayern Munich have seemingly entered the race for the Frenchman, with rumours circulating around Twitter that Bayern boss Pep Guardiola is interested.
ESPN presenter & Real Madrid fan Jeinny Lizarazo recently claimed Benzema as heading to North London to discuss terms ahead of a medical (via the Express), insisting that one of her sources had confirmed the news.

It’s unclear how reliable of a source she is, but the rumours certainly seem to be building speed. She now claims that Bayern Munich are also interested in Benzema, and that Guardiola has contacted him personally.
Ok…here it goes…about latest Benzema news told to me…last night Bayern coach Guardiola talks to him saying they are interested… — Jeinny Lizarazo (@Jeinnylizarazo) August 10, 2015
She also claims that Arsene Wenger has been in contact with his compatriot, and is still hoping to beat Guardiola to the punch.
UPDATE: After Wenger found out about Guardiola’s call..he called and spoke to Benzema “in length” today about his importance to the club..

It seems strange that Bayern would be looking to bring Benzema to the Allianz Arena, as they already have one of the best strikers in the world at their disposal in Robert Lewandowski.

The Polish striker has reportedly been unsettled with the German giants however (via the Express), so a move for Benzema may not be out of the question.

It would be a massive blow were we to lose out on Benzema to Bayern Munich, but at the moment these rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt.
