Arsenal have been handed a blow in our reported attempts to land Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, after the striker confirmed his desire to stay at Lyon, the Daily Mail reports.
Lacazette, who netted 27 league goals in Ligue 1 last term, is a reported target for us as we look to add a top quality forward to our array of talent, the Mail suggests.
The 24-year-old has blistering pace, something we lack when Olivier Giroud is positioned at the focal point of our attack, but it seems as though potential suitors must wait another 12 months to sign the striker.

“I have already said that I want to continue with Lyon,” Lacazette was quoted as saying in the publication.
“I have shown that I’m fully committed. It’s football that interests me, not money. I hope to have a strong season.”

With Lacazette rated at £40million by his club, as the report suggests, it was always highly unlikely that Arsene Wenger would depart with that sum in order to land his compatriot.
While our financial potential has clearly accelerated in recent years, Wenger’s ethics will never allow him to shell out huge sums for players he feels aren’t worth it.
Unless Karim Benzema becomes available later on in the window, it is difficult to see us adding a striker this summer.
