Morgan Schneiderlin looks certain to leave Southampton this summer, with recent quotes suggesting he will leave St Mary’s sooner rather than later. And we have been made hot favourites to secure his signature, with odds slashed for the Frenchman to make the switch to the Emirates, according to the Daily Star.

We are in need of reinforcements in midfield ahead of next season, with Francis Coquelin currently our only (high standard) defensively minded midfielder. We are well stocked in more attack minded players – with the likes of Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, and Santi Cazorla at our disposal – but if Coquelin were to suffer an injury, we would be left somewhat in the lurch.
As the Star reports, we have been long term admirers of Schneiderlin, with Arsene Wenger chasing his compatriot for years.
He looks certain to leave Southampton this summer, and all but confirmed it with his recent comments.
“The negotiations are ongoing and should be completed in the coming days, hopefully before the resumption of [Southampton’s pre-season] training next week,” he said (via ITV).

Bookies often know things we don’t, as they have to be on their toes to get the better of knowledgeable punters. Betfair recently slashed the odds for Schneiderlin to join Arsenal, and we are now 1/2 favourites to sign the 25-year-old.
“Arsenal are now odds-on favourite to sign the in-demand Frenchman before September 2nd 2015,” Betfair trader Michael Bowers said (via the Daily Star).
“Schneiderlin has been a wanted man for several transfer windows now and it seems as though Wenger is trying to force a deal through early to fend off other suitors.
“This has certainly been one of our liveliest transfer markets by far with Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool all taking it in turns to occupy the favourite spot.
“But after a huge rush of bets, Arsenal have been cut from 5/1 to 1/2, the shortest odds any other club has been backed in to by far.”
Schneiderlin looks in many ways to be the ideal signing, and if we can bring him in this summer it would be a fantastic bit of business. He is exactly the type of player we need, and as he’s Premier League proven already he would take little time to adapt.
