Arsenal may have been handed a boost in our reported pursuit of Morgan Schneiderlin after Southampton moved a step closer to replacing him by making a move for Feyenoord’s Jordy Clasie, the Metro reports.
The Eredivisie club announced through their official Twitter account that their skipper has been left out of their pre-season friendly due to ‘serious interest’ shown by another club.
Club en speler hebben daarom in goed overleg besloten hem niet te laten spelen zolang gesprekken over een eventuele transfer gaande zijn.

If the Metro is to be believed, that club is Southampton who are clearly planning for life without Schneiderlin which could entice Arsene Wenger to finally swoop in.
We have been heavily linked with the French midfielder since January but as of yet, reports suggest that we have not made a serious offer for the player (via The Telegraph).

After Manchester United announced a deal for Bastian Schweinsteiger, it was reported that we’ll now have a free run at concluding a deal for the Saints star (via the Daily Star).
However, whether or not Wenger is even interested in doing a deal remains to be seen following the emergence of Francis Coquelin coupled with Mikel Arteta’s contract extension.
