An in-depth interview from the Guardian has shed light on in-form Canadian striker Jonathan David, who has become one of the more prominent names being linked with a move to Arsenal in the next transfer window.

Currently playing with Gent, the 20-year-old impressively chalked up 23 goals in all competitions, before the season was postponed and as of Thursday was declared ‘completed’ – with the current standings in the Belgian league being awarded ahead of time, Gent as a result finished second.
Considering the new league developments and the interview with striker Jonathan David taking place a few days before, he may now never play another game for Gent;
“I don’t really focus on that or think much about it. Right now I’m playing almost every minute of every game and that has really helped me get to the level that I need to be. I just need to take a good step where I can make sure I am getting enough time on the pitch to keep developing. I don’t want to go somewhere and just stay on the bench so it’s about taking the right step.”
“I want to become one of the best strikers in the world. That’s my goal. The Premier League is the best in the world and most competitive so obviously that is somewhere I would love to play in the future.”
Arsenal are of course still facing uncertainty over the long-term contractual future of Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and signing a new goalscorer in the transfer window will likely be a priority for manager Mikel Arteta.
Jonathan David isn’t likely to be a bank-breaking transfer considering the Belgian league’s status, but his goalscoring record for club and country [11 in 12 for Canada] is likely to make him hot property for clubs all across Europe, seeking out reinforcements in-attack.
