Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger remained coy when asked about the possibility of Karim Benzema joining us this summer, claiming that the situation at Real Madrid remains unpredictable, the Sunday World reports.
Wenger was given a scenario whereby Rafa Benitez could takeover Real Madrid and build the team around Gareth Bale, subsequently alienating Benzema – and was then asked whether or not he’d be interested should those events take place.
Benzema is seen as the calibre of player capable of spearheading our attack as we aim to clinch our first Premier League title since 2004.

“I do not think about transfers. Nobody knows what will happen at Real Madrid yet it is all suspicions.”

Benzema has scored at least 20 goals in five consecutive seasons for Real Madrid, which shows his consistency at the top-level (via RealMadrid.com). That tally is all the moreĀ impressive considering that scoring goals isĀ not the Frenchman’s solitary role, despite playing as a central striker.
Benzema is tasked with supplying flying wingers Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, which has illustrated his adaptability from the role he occupies for France.
Wenger’s major decision regarding a potential move for Benzema is whether or not he is prepared to hinder Olivier Giroud’s international career months before the European Championships in France. Placing his rival for a place in Didier Deschamp’s side ahead of him at club-level could certainly have a negative effect on the Frenchman.
