Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has defended record signing Mesut Ozil after recent reports (via Bild) suggested that the German was partying in Berlin hours after missing Arsenal’s games against Newcastle with illness.
Ozil was given permission by Wenger to go to Berlin ahead of the international break after he missed the game at St James’s Park according Germany boss Joachim Low (via Goal).
Our superstar signing recovered from his minor problem to complete 90 minutes against Australia on Wednesday night and ended the game as captain, rounding off a sound display.

“Mesut was not partying. He was out for dinner with some friends. If he was out partying in Germany then you would have seen some pictures,” Wenger told beIN Sports (via the Mirror).

Ozil’s perception has been dragged through the mud ever since his move to the club and it is difficult to determine why he receives such negative press from his homeland and in England.
Whilst Andres Iniesta hasn’t assisted or scored a league goal in over a year but is still praised (via Squawka), Ozil’s best performances are whispered but an average display makes headline news.
