Arsene Wenger was asked once again about the rumours surrounding Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal and the boss rather vaguely denied a move for the Chilean, Arsenal.com reports.
Fresh from becoming the most decorated manager in modern football in the FA Cup, Wenger was asked if there was any movement on Vidal.
After insinuating that the reporter was from Chile, Wenger seemed to hint that we have many players operating in Vidal’s position and he wasn’t being considered at this present time.

“Arturo Vidal? You must be from Chile,” Wenger joked.
“We have good midfielders and at the moment we are not looking at Arturo Vidal.”

The fact that the boss was keen to stress that Vidal wasn’t in consideration “at the moment” leaves many thinking that this could be a case of deja vu.
Wenger is notorious for denying moves for players he is interested in only for them to arrive at the Emirates Stadium weeks later.
However, in this case, the boss should be believed considering Vidal’s preferred role. The Chilean often operates as the furthers midfielder and demands little defensive responsibility.
That isn’t the sort of player this team needs and a more specialist defensive midfielder should be brought in.
