Arsene Wenger has named our 4-1 victory against Liverpool as his best home performance of the season, as we exacted revenge for our heavy defeat at Anfield last year, he told Arsenal Player.
In the midst of a sensational winning run, Liverpool came to the Emirates Stadium in good shape, and we annihilated them with some sensational football.
Hector Bellerin, Mesut Ozil, and Alexis Sanchez blitzed the Reds in an action-packed eight-minute period before half-time as we stormed into a 3-0 lead. All four goals on that day were ‘goal of the month’ contenders.
Arsenal transfer rumours
“Just spontaneously, maybe Liverpool,” Wenger said regarding his favourite home performance of the season.
“Everything clicked at a high pace and high intensity, great goals.

“It’s a day when Mesut Ozil scored as well you know we like to see that from a free-kick.”
Ozil’s goal probably capped off the afternoon given that the German rarely gets on the scoresheet for us and he was majestic on that April afternoon.
Our home form became consistent in the second half of the campaign – bar the blip against Swansea City – and if we’re to challenge for the Premier League next season then solid home form is imperative.
Chelsea’s unbeaten home form this season has shown us the level we need to aspire to.
Our away performances are on par with anyone in the league, and if we marry the two we’ll become unstoppable.
