Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger revealed that he never expected the sensational run the team is currently on after we secured our eighth consecutive Premier League in a hard fought win against relegation strugglers Burnley, the boss told Arsenal’s official website.
Our record of league wins in succession is nine, which was achieved by the legendary ‘Invincible’ side in 2003/04. The reasons behind our imperious form is hard to conclude, but the balance of the team has been evident.
The likes of Hector Bellerin, David Ospina and Francis Coquelin have brought some stability to the side, however according to Wenger, the preparation of the team has been a major influence.

“I always hope to get the best out of my team, but no manager in the world if he is serious can predict a run like this,” Wenger said.
“We prepare [well], we prepare and contribute to our success, that is for sure. What people forgot is that we had big players out for four months this season. Six or seven players from the squad completely out. So that made a big difference.”
The tactical performance of the team has been remarkable over the past few months and the improvement in the big games is no coincidence.

Wenger has been previously criticised in that regard, but his dismantling of Liverpool and Manchester United was proof of a meticulous game plan to counter the opposition, and we were deserving winners in both.
