Arsene Wenger has hit out at Stoke City fans in the wake of our goalless draw at the Britannia Stadium, who could be heard singing obscene chants directed at Aaron Ramsey, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Stoke have developed a reputation for aggression, route one football, and dirty tackling over the years, and despite a noticeable change to their ethos since the departure of Tony Pulis, it’s a reputation they haven’t quite been able to shake.
They’ve still got the likes of Ryan Shawcross, Charlie Adam, and Marko Arnautovic, all players capable of putting in leg breaking tackles with seemingly no sign of a conscience.
The chants were obviously referring to one particular leg breaking challenge in particular, when Shawcross put Ramsey out of action long-term with a truly reckless tackle.
The Stoke fans were singing disgusting things such as “Aaron Ramsey, he walks with a limp”, and booing him for essentially getting his leg broken.
Wenger believes a number of those fans will regret their actions, but we’re not so sure those types have it in them.
“I shut my ears and think that’s the best way to deal with it. I don’t know what to do about it — I don’t know generally what you should do,” he said.
“When people get together they sometimes forget their individual responsibility. Maybe when you go home and watch it on television you are less proud.”

It’s a complete mystery what must be going through Stoke fans’ heads when they sing these chants, as it seems totally insane. A brutal tackle from one of their players almost ended the career of a young midfielder, but thankfully he made a full recovery.
While we don’t expect Stoke fans to apologise or continually feel bad for Ramsey – nasty injuries happen in football, it’s part of the game – what type of logic dictates that he deserves to be booed?
They are picking on a player for nothing more than having his leg broken and spending a large chunk of his career on the sidelines. Are they really that stupid?
Arsenal transfer news
Hopefully it doesn’t get to Ramsey, and he’s able to just ignore the chants and carry on improving.
