New Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is looking to do a bit of reshaping at the Santiago Bernabeu, and James Rodriguez and Isco are consequently for sale this summer, according to Spanish publication Marca.
Recent reports (via The Telegraph) have suggested Arsene Wenger will have £75m to play with during the transfer window, and he could spend that on one or both of James and Isco.
We’ve been regularly linked with the pair in the past, both before and after their respective moves to the Spanish capital. Both are top quality players, and it would certainly please Arsenal fans to see Wenger make one or more marquee signings this summer.
James has really struggled at Madrid, and has been in and out of the team throughout his time there. The La Liga giants spent a huge amount to bring him in from AS Monaco, but look set to take an equally massive loss if they sell him.
Isco is more of a regular fixture in the side, but has still come in for a lot of criticism and is consequently facing the chop. We’ve technically already had a £35m bid for the Spaniard accepted, with Madrid giving us first refusal on Isco this summer (via the Express).
We’ve already needed an addition or two over the last few transfer windows, but it’s going to get even worse come the end of the season. A number of players are heading into the twilight of their careers, and some may even be retiring or moving on in a few months.

There may well be a real reshuffle at Arsenal this summer, and Isco or James could end up replacing one of our ageing stars like Tomas Rosicky or Mikel Arteta.
Both players are arguably most comfortable playing in Mesut Özil’s No.10 role, which is obviously taken by the German genius. They have both been known to play out wide when necessary though, which may suit Arsene Wenger perfectly. He is famous for deploying more naturally central-minded players on the wings – Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere for example – and could do the same with the Real Madrid duo.
Arsenal transfer news
We arguably need to spend more than £75m to really take our team to the next level, but with Wenger’s unwillingness to spend big we’ll be lucky to even see the £75m he currently has spent this summer.
