Arsene Wenger has apparently made signing Juventus’ Alvaro Morata a priority this summer, with the former Real Madrid star seen as the perfect striker to play ahead of former teammate Mesut Özil, as reported by The Telegraph.
We’ve been chasing Morata for quite some time now, and we were even looking at signing him before he made the switch to Serie A. With reports suggesting he’s set to leave the Italian champions at the end of the campaign, Arsene Wenger is seemingly going back in for the young striker.
The Telegraph claim Real Madrid are planning on using their buyback clause before selling him on for a profit this summer, which makes the deal a little complicated. We have a decent standing relationship with the La Liga giants though, so hopefully that makes the potential deal run a little more smoothly.
Despite apparently planning on signing a new striker, Wenger is unlikely to want to sell any of his current options. Olivier Giroud has nonetheless been linked with a move to Juventus (via the Mirror), which could potentially see a swap deal happen.

He’s got a £30m price tag on his head (via The Telegraph), which isn’t a huge amount for a good striker in today’s market. That said though, he’s struggled badly for goals this season, and has been eclipsed by Paulo Dybala at Juventus. At 23-years-old he’s got plenty of time to improve, but spending £30m on an out of form striker is a bit much.
