Mesut Özil has been in phenomenal form since his return from injury, and deserves to be praised for his performances. Arsene Wenger has never wavered in his support of our record signing, and has recently celebrated the German playmaker’s leadership, according to the Daily Star.
Özil has come in for a huge amount of criticism for his performances in an Arsenal shirt, but he has been one of the standout performers in 2015. His excellent displays often go unappreciated, as his role in the team is a somewhat understated one.
Wenger has once again shown support for the former Real Madrid star though, and has highlighted a facet of Özil’s game that he is not known for – his leadership.
“I believe as well that some players who were questioned, like Özil, have made big improvements in the second part of the season,” Wenger said, according to the Daily Star.
“He gets slowly the leader you want him to be in guiding our game.”

Özil is known for his creativity, and he is often the one who starts the attack rather than applying the finish. He regularly pulls the strings from the midfield, and we have seen a return to our fluid and attack minded best with the 26-year-old in the side.
