Arsene Wenger has given the biggest indication yet that he’s prepared to hand Chuba Akpom his chance next season after the striker netted a hat-trick against Singapore Select XI, speaking to reporters after the game (via Arsenal Player).
Akpom spent the last three months of the previous campaign on loan at Nottingham Forrest, and with the current options we have in the forward positions another loan spell seemed apparent.
However, Wenger has confirmed that he wants to keep Akpom next season and will hand him his chance if the striker’s attitude is right.

“No. I sent him out on loan last year because I thought he needed that,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.
“Yeah (he will get his chance), it’s down to performance and attitude. He has that grade to make between being a big talent and after an efficient talent week in, week out.”

Akpom has all the attributes to succeed as a top striker, with the England U-20 international blessed with raw pace and power as well as neat technique.
However, as the Daily Mail suggests, Wenger remains in the market for a striker and should we add another option in that department, Akpom’s development will become stunted.
Hopefully, Akpom can further strengthen his belief in the upcoming pre-season fixtures.
