Arsenal fans love banter, and they love it even more when their manager actively takes part in trolling their fierce North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur – which is exactly what Arsene Wenger has done.
Wenger has taken Arsenal to new heights, and the Gunners finishing above Spurs every season during his reign is just one of his achievements. He will be remembered by the Emirates faithful as the man behind their brilliant home stadium, and he’s well on his way to giving the Emirates some history, with the 2015/16 season looking more and more tailor made to end Arsenal’s 11 year trophy drought.
With Tottenham being granted planning permission for the £400 million project named the Northumberland Development Project, Tottenham will have a marginally greater capacity than the Emirates (via the Metro). The new stadium – built adjacent to their current one in White Hart Lane – is to have a projected capacity of 61,000. This represents a miniscule increase of 0.00939899% over the Emirates, which currently seats 60,432.
When asked about whether Arsenal would look into increasing their capacity now, Wenger was at his cheeky best.
“We will try!” he was quoted as saying by the Metro.
The Arsenal fans must be loving how Tottenham are out of the top four again this season, and this comment from Wenger will certainly make them happier than before.
