Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has confirmed that we’re in talks with both Chelsea and Petr Cech as we aim to lure the 33-year-old to the Emirates Stadium, he told Arsenal Fan TV at Monday’s kit launch (via the Metro).
Gazidis was reportedly mingling with fans during the launch and was happy to take questions regarding various topics and surprisingly spoke on the current focus surrounding Cech.
According to the programme, the South African stated that we were in dialogue with both Chelsea and the player, but admitted that talks are currently “delicate” before admitting that the club was hopeful of getting the deal over the line.

Anyone familiar with Gazidis will know that he’s usually an elusive figure who very rarely discusses transfers unless they’re close to completion. The fact that he’s openly admitted that a deal for Cech is a possibility, we can assume that the deal could be further down the line than currently reported in the press.
We should hear more from Gazidis this week as he’s set to hold his annual Q&A with the Arsenal Supporters Trust on Friday as they grill him on all things Arsenal and should there be little movement on the Cech situation before then, conversations regarding the Chelsea man will certainly dominate proceedings.
