Arsenal are reportedly close to agreeing a new deal with Mesut Ozil after more “positive talks”, with the club hopeful of securing his future shortly.
According to the Mirror, the Gunners have offered £280,000-per-week and while Ozil had been holding out for £350,000-per-week, they are optimistic an agreement will be reached.
The Germany international has spoken out about his future recently, insisting he is happy at the club and claiming talks on a new deal would continue when he is back in north London.
Ozil has also combined well with new signing Alexandre Lacazette during the club’s pre-season tour, which looks hugely promising for the future.
It now looks as though Ozil will opt to stay at Arsenal, a decision no doubt helped by Arsene Wenger’s decision to remain at the club.

There also appears to have been a distinct lack of interest in Ozil from other top clubs, and hopefully Arsenal can now get the deal done.
The report also claims Arsenal are no closer to reaching agreement with Sanchez, who is believed to have demanded £400,000-per-week in wages.
Apparently the Gunners may be tempted to sell if they receive an offer of over £50 million, as they risk losing him for free next summer.
The doubt over Sanchez’s future means Arsenal will not allow Olivier Giroud to leave for now, despite interest from Everton and Borussia Dortmund.
The France international will be needed, if Sanchez does depart, although Arsenal will also continue to try to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco.
